How to handle decimals quickly
- Ignore the point, then put it back. 0.3 × 0.4: 3 × 4 = 12, two decimal places, so 0.12.
- Line up the points when adding: 4.7 + 12.6 = 17.3.
- Estimate first so you never put the point in the wrong place.
How the drill works
A mix of decimal addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with answers up to two decimal places. On phones the number pad has a decimal point key. You can type .5 or 0.5.
Also called decimal arithmetic practice, a decimals speed test or mental maths with decimals.
